Melbourne’s West is home to hallmark events such as the Cox Plate, viewed by more than 1.2 billion people worldwide, and it is also the stage for a string of food related events including the Taste of the West, the Spring Harvest Picnic and the Victorian Olive Festival.

Community Festivals such as Bayside, Djerriwarrh, Moonee Valley, Weerama, Williamstown and Yarraville offer a unique insight in to the life of our individual communities.

The Tall Ships are coming to Melbourne!

18 January - 4 February

From 18 January until 4 February view some of Australia's most magnificent tall ships at Williamstown.  Including the James Craig which will be open to the public on certain days, and will also be hosting public sailing days.

Strike a Chord - The Science of Music

Scienceworks Museum - Special Exhibition

 

Featuring over 20 interactive exhibits all about music, visitors are able to conduct their own virtual orchestra, record and produce their own digital music and play in an air band with friends while looking at the physics of sound, musical composition and the physiology of hearing and singing.

Highlights include the Floor Piano, where visitors are invited to step on giant keys to create a tune, the Light Harp, an instrument that creates music from light beams and the Tot Spot an area of simple percussion instruments that children under the age of five can explore and play.

LOCATION: Scienceworks Museum, 2 Booker Strret, Spotswood.

COST: $11.00 Adults, $4.00 Concession, $3.50 Children

Rhythm of Africa Logo

Sunday Jazz Sessions at Shadowfax Winery

Every Sunday until 30 March

Enjoy the sweet sounds of Wonderground and the Paul Rettke Trio each Sunday at the cellar door.  Kick back and enjoy a bottle of wine, delicious wood fired pizzas and antipasto plates in the superb surrounds.

But if Jazz isn't your thing, the winery also conducts barrel room tours every Saturday over summer at 4pm, finishing with a tasting.
