Family Dive-In movie night

Urban Culture Week @ Highpoint

Showcasing the evolving influences of street culture on fashion, music, film and lifestyle over the last fifty years, Highpoint’s Level 1 will come alive in a week long celebration featuring KissFM live broadcasts, guest DJ’s and hip hop artists, celebrity appearances and plenty of giveaways.

Urban Culture Installation

Take a step back in time! The Urban Culture Installation will showcase the evolving street cultures that been influenced by music, fashion and design over the last fifty years. Level 1 will be transformed with visually spectacular images with corresponding details of the influence of time including Beatniks, Rock’n’Roll, Mod, Hippies, Disco, SKA, Punk, Rock and House amongst others.

Hoyts Urban Cult Film Festival

Werribee Park Celebrates 130 Years

Join in a long weekend of activities for the whole family as Werribee Park celebrates 130 years. Werribee Park will be a hive of activity, with regular guided tours of the mansion and sculpture walk, open access to the 25-meter mansion tower, opportunity to dress up in 1880's period costume, blacksmith demonstrations in the farm and extensive audio tours throughout the property.

Anniversary Garden Party at Werribee Park

Garden parties have a long history at Werribee Park with several parties being hosted by Thomas and Andrew Chirnside in the 1880's. Activities include horse and carriage rides, historic children's games, Victorian cooking demonstrations, military re-enactments, guided tours in various areas, open access to the mansion tower, dressing in period costume and fantastic door prizes.

Visitors are invited to pack a picnic basket with their favourite goodies and enjoy a full day out with family and friends. General admission applies.

Sand Storm Altona – Australia Day weekend The fabulous five - Goofy, Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Donald.

Fri 25 – Tues 29 Jan

In what is sure to become a signature coastal event, Sandstorm Events in conjunction with the Altona Village Traders Association, Bendigo Community Bank and the Altona Lifesaving Club present Sand Storm Altona.

Visitors to Pier Street will see master craftspeople at work across the weekend as massive sand sculptures take shape across from the beach.  A full program of events is happening including beach volleyball, a film screening, and more, while on Monday the Western Suburbs Triathlon Club take to the foreshore.

From 11am on Friday 25 Jan, witness 20 tonnes of sand transformed into magnificent works of art by our Australian and International Sculptors at the southern end of Pier Street adjacent to Altona Beach.

Australian Offshore Power Boat Championships

Feb 9 to Feb 17

 

The mighty powerboats return to Hobsons Bay with a slightly reconfigured event this year.

Boats and crews will start to arrive in Hobsons Bay from 1st February, with storage and preparations underway for a weekend of racing in Port Philip Bay on Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th February, and across Hobsons Bay the following weekend on Saturday 16th

& Sunday 17th February.

People will be able to visit the PMA site in Williamstown (Workshops Pier) to see the boats up close, and lifted in and out of the water.  On race days vantage points around the coastline will deliver a spectacle of boats and helicopters.

  • February 1st - 8th boats in storage on site at Workshops Pier, Nelson Place Williamstown
  • Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th - racing in Port Philip Bay
  • Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th - racing in Hobsons Bay

Air Pageant - RAAF Point Cook

The RAAF Museum is home to the biggest collection of Australian military aviation memorabilia in the world and the largest collection of historic military aircraft in the Southern Hemisphere. The RAAF Museum will be celebrating the history of Point Cook displaying aircraft from the Air Force's past and present.

World's Longest Lunch at Werribee Open Range Zoo

Cheeky meerkats! Zebra! Rhinos! Hippos! Lions!.......not your normal lunch guests. Join us at Werribee Open Range Zoo and they will be. The World’s Longest Lunch will be held as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival. Over 20 longest lunches will be held around the state on this day. Before sitting down to lunch you will be invited to travel through your own African Savannah on the safari tour to get up close and personal with a veritable menagerie. Following your safari tour you will be indulged with four courses accompanied by fine beverages.

Longest lunches are also happening at Rockbank and Flemington Racecourse on Feb 29.

As Australia’s richest annual prize for sculptors, the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award fosters and promotes contemporary Australian sculpture.

The sculptures of the selected finalists are exhibited in the gardens of Werribee Park – a spectacular setting for the public to experience and appreciate the wide variety of sculptural work. The unique garden setting for the exhibition attracts a wide and varied audience.

Weerama Festival - Wyndham

Weerama Festival is the annual community festival in Wyndham. The theme for 2008 is "The World in Wyndham," which represents the diversity, culture and way of life in the City of Wyndham.

There will be heaps happening over the 4 days, including a street parade, music events, art exhibits and lots of activities and fun for children.

The Cadbury Easter Picnic - Werribee Park

Good Friday - 21 March

The Cadbury Easter Picnic is the world's largest easter egg hunt, with over 500,000 mini eggs to be found!  The Werribee Park Mansion is the perfect backdrop for this guaranteed day of family fun with all your favourite Cadbury characters as well as some new surprise guests. All ticket profits and proceeds from sales on the day will be donated to the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

RezFest

RezFest is a gospel music festival featuring two evening concerts which will showcase a range of highly acclaimed International and Australian Christian bands. Staged at the historic Point Cook Homestead, this beachfront property overlooks Port Phillip Bay and provides the perfect setting to celebrate this glorious event.

Held on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, RezFest is a ticketed, alcohol free event and is only 20mins from Melbourne's CBD.

Williamstown Festival - The Circus is Coming to Town

The 31st Williamstown Festival is the Carnivale of the Western Region of Melbourne.

Celebrating the quintessential festival life by supporting the community, nurturing cultural diversity and experiencing art.

The theme this year is ‘the circus is coming to town’.  The Commonwealth Reserve circus comes in the form of the traveling human carnival, Sideshow Paradiso; winner of the Spirit of the Fridge Award, Adelaide Fringe Festival, 2005.

Sideshow Paradiso is an exotic world, a village carnival in the park. It’s a world which inhabits Commonwealth Reserve and transforms it into a complete arts paradise for the whole community as well as the creative connoisseur.
